Gaining Style Confidence

Hey Cuties,

Today we were expecting company, so I thought we will be in the house let me whip out my new caftan.  Well this caftan I got at the Islamic festival before coming to Morocco and thought this would be perfect for events just like this.  SO, I got myself together and decided to even put the bandanna on that came with it along with some stylish flower earrings.  I have to admit I thought it was cute but I still was a little unsure.  When everyone saw me they gave me the traditional "biss sa ha" (which they say every time after you have showered) the response by the way is "la tik sa ha".  When my husband saw me he said "you were'in that?" Now I thought this could mean two things....one he thinks I look ridiculous with this bandanna or two he thinks I am not covered up enough.(it was ankle length, only my arm from the elbow down was showing)  Well my response to the first was I thought I looked cute, but maybe too much for this crowd as they are not very fashion forward and for the second although it is Islamic to be covered in front of other men  that are not related to you and not your husband; in Morocco it is customary to be in your PJ's while in the house.  Usually when people arrive, especially those that are related to you, they come in, settle down and then proceed to get out of their jalebah and have their PJ's on.  So listen before any haram police start coming out.....I have been in Hijab for 2 years Masha'Allah, but I am not so strict, especially when in the house.  I would be so cranky if I had to be covered up this whole day, AND they are spending the night!!!!! HELL NO I am sorry they would have to go home!!! Especially in this HEAT!!!

Anyway, later on in the day my husband was more flirtatious than usual and when I asked what got into him he said "oh you look so good!!!!" I said when you first saw me you said "you were'in that" like I looked like Aunt Jamaima!!! He said I said that cause I thought you looked good! Don't want no one to see you...So just look busted all the time when around people? AND Haram police back up....this is the same guy who when in Italy with his brother and his wife said I didn't dress up enough.....Go figure!!!!! Anyway the jist of this blog is about style confidence.  I don't know if I would refer to myself as a stylish dresser before but I did dress to the beat of my own drum, and I felt like I looked good and I had confidence in what I wore.  As time went on and I got lazy and lost the Mo to the JO I also became insecure in my style choices.  I guess that is why I refer to fashion blogs and youtube for inspiration.  I put together an outfit the other day that was just a simple maxi dress with an open button  down shirt as apposed to the regular cardigan and my husband said, in kind of a surprised voice, "you look good girl"....Which now that I think about it I might have to take issue with him later on that....I digress......The sad thing about that is I saw it on Hijab On Point blog and thought why didn't I ever think about that?!!!! DUH!!!

Well here's to getting back the MO to the JO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
